I Love PJ Day! By Anna B.

PJ Day!

I love PJ day!

It’s crazy and cool

It’s different today

Bringing your stuffed animal.

It’s crazy and cool

You struggle to stay awake

Bringing your stuffed animal

Makes you feel home at school.

You struggle to stay awake

Turning class into a dream
Makes you feel home at school

But where is the cover?

Turning class into a dream,

American dolls, pretty and cute,

But where is the cover?

Wee stuffed animals flying during recess.

American dolls, pretty and cute,

Eating lunch instead of breakfast

Wee stuffed animals flying during recess

Sharing our morning habits.

You struggle to stay awake

It’s different today

Makes you feel home at school

I love PJ day!

  1. Dear Anna B,

I really enjoyed your poem. I think you are really going to convince Ms. Kinigou, Ms. Maratou, and Ms. Evloyas of having PJ’s everyday.

  2. Dear Anna B,
I enjoyed your pantoum poem and I totally agree with you about the coziness of wearing PJs to school, and how wearing them makes you feel like you are at home, dreaming. Nice pictures, by the way! Good job!

  3. Dear Anna B,

I really liked your pantoum poem and I think that you did a great job describing PJ day!

  4. Dear Anna B,
I really liked your poem! Plus it was very interesting making some words rhyme in a pantoum poem! 🙂 Next time you could challenge yourself and write your own poem (not a pantoum) where it doesn’t repeat lines! I can see you are pretty good at writing – especially poems!

  5. Dear Anna,
I think PJ day is very fun and I think your poem was a good way of explaining PJ day!!!! Maybe you could write more of those poems that talk about special days at school!!!!

  7. Dear Anna B.,
I loved your pantoum, you did a great job. The pictures that you chose were amazing and I also think that it was very comfortable being with your pajamas at school.

    1. Hahaha! Very funny!
When you try to make rhymes like this you can end up with something that sounds quite random because the rhyme ends up driving the sense of the poem. In this case the bizarre meaning makes the rhyme amusing, but often the quest for a rhyme can drag the meaning of a poem off course. Rhyming needs to be used with caution! This was something I was trying to explain to some of my students during the poetry unit.
Thanks, Madwahan, and nice to still see you on the blog! Hope you are enjoying your new school!

  8. Dear Marialena,
Thank you so much for your liking of the poem! I really enjoyed writing it, as well as reading it out loud to others… I will challenge myself to write another poem without repeating lines, but perhaps you can check some of my other poem of the kite, the cake, the eagle and others! 🙂
    Sincerely,
    Anna B.
P.S: Maybe you could challenge yourself to write a poem and post it on the blog! I would be very happy to read it! 😀
