One January Sunday, Anna B, Jason and I decided to go to the OAKA stadium in Maroussi with our roller-blades and scooters. OAKA stands for Olympic Athletic Center of Athens, or in Greek, Ολυμπιακό Αθλητικό Κέντρο Αθηνών. It is a large sports center which was used for the 2004 Olympics.
We drove to the Olympic stadium and parked in their big parking lot. Then we explored the area and decided the best place to roller-blade was the Agora or Forum. It is a large area with a tall, long arch of light steel. The ground is flat and smooth which makes it ideal for anything on wheels. There were a lot of people with bikes, scooters, skateboards and roller-blades. Some people had brought remote controlled cars and planes. It sounds pretty crowded but the area is so large there is more than enough space for everyone.
Better bring your own food and water since we saw no cafeteria or canteen. All the information you need about the stadium including maps and pictures is at the OAKA website, www.oaka.com.gr .
We had a lot of fun that day and we asked our parents to take us again! Grab your helmets and pads and we hope to see you there!
